Most people with a realty license help buyers and sellers purchase and sell property. However, there are other opportunities for those with a real estate license. If you’re asking about other roles for licensed professionals, consider working as a property assistant or referral agent. These positions require some level of property experience and all benefit from the holder’s property license.
Agent’s Assistant
Licensed professionals with a desire to organize a successful agent will find plenty of jobs in today’s economy. The assistant manages the active broker’s schedule by making and confirming appointments, showing property, preparing promotional documents and materials, updating or developing websites, preparing and completing paperwork, and facilitating property closings. Unlike brokers paid on the commission, the assistant is usually provided with a salary, although some earn a percentage of the sales agent’s commission income. As sales agents become more successful, it’s necessary for them to employ an experienced assistant who can help them focus on managing clients, asking for referrals, and using other tools to make more sales.
Referring Agent
A referral agent also earns income with a realty license. He or she refers prospective properties or clients to the sales agent. The referring agent earns an agreed upon portion of the commission earned by the sales agent. In many cases, the referring agent earns thirty percent or even more of the sales agent’s commission at closing. The referring professional may prefer this arrangement because it’s unnecessary to perform all the steps necessary to complete and close the sale. A referring agent’s job can be a perfect match for well-connected professional who doesn’t want to perform the sales agent’s duties.
